The health and proper functioning of our body depends on the nutrition and alimentation that we have during our life.
Food and Nutrition even when they seem to mean the same thing, they are different concepts.
Food allows us to take from the environment that surrounds us, the food of the diet (from the mouth to the outside) and Nutrition is the set of processes that allow our body to use the nutrients contained in food to perform its functions (from the mouth to inside).
Food is all natural or industrialized products that we consume to cover a physiological need (hunger).
Nutrients are substances that are found inside food and that the body needs to perform different functions and maintain health. There are five types of nutrients called: Proteins or Protides, Fats or Lipids, Carbohydrates or Vitamins and Minerals.
What is a balanced diet?
Balanced nutrition, known as complete or healthy food, means eating all the necessary foods to be healthy and well nourished but in a balanced way, which implies eating portions according to our weight, size and sex. It is very important to consume foods from different groups so that it is a varied diet.
The food groups are classified into 5 categories: carbohydrates, proteins, dairy products, fruits and vegetables and, finally, fats and sugars. Food groups are usually represented in the nutritional pyramid or food pyramid.
The human being should not forget that a balanced or complete diet results in a list of benefits such as: minimum chances of developing diseases, control of cholesterol, reduces the risk of heart problems, reduces blood pressure, improves the immune system, among others .
It is important that, if you want to lose a few kilos, do not do miracle diets, or stop eating, because as well as losing weight, you usually go back up; It is the so-called rebound effect. Learning to eat healthy you will lose weight little by little and your body will get used to it, being more difficult to get back those extra pounds.
